Conway Springs School District has emerged as one of the area schools technology leaders. We are constantly finding new and exciting ways to enhance learning through technology.
Conway Springs has a gigabit fiber optic network between each building. The entire campus is also covered by a wireless network that allows for any district laptop to connect to it securely.
Our school district is connected to the KAN-ED network. KAN-ED is designed to provide for a broadband technology-based network to which schools, libraries and hospitals may connect for broadband internet access and intranet access for distance learning.” By using KAN-ED and IDL (interactive distance learning) our students have access to vast amounts of users across the country and around the world.
The district has a student to computer ratio of 2:1. The entire district is running the latest version of Microsoft Office and Windows operating system. Every classroom in our high school, middle school, and elementary classrooms have ceiling mounted LCD projectors installed. We use the projectors in many ways to enhance learning and one new feature we use to do this is a district-wide video on demand system by Learn 360. The new Learn 360 video system lets any teacher at any time search for academic videos by topic or state standard and allows all or pieces of the video to be shown at their discretion.
Conway Springs School District utilizes the N.W.E.A local assessments that run centrally on the network which provides an in-depth look at students’ strong and weak points to better direct learning. We also use the state of Kansas’ computerized testing software. This has been a valuable way of completing our state assessments quickly and reliably with the ability to see the results immediately.
Conway Springs will continue to find ways to centralize and simplify the way we use and teach technology. Our district believes in continuing to provide current computers and technology to its staff and students. We believe that staying current with technology trends helps push our students and staff to be better prepared for the future.
