[Algebra II] [Algebra III]
[Advanced Geometry] [Pre-Algebra]
Grade levels 9, 10, 11, 12. Full year course. Prerequisite: Algebra I. This course is an extension of Algebra I. All of the topics covered in Algebra I will be covered in Algebra II. Students will also be introduced to a number of different abstract geometric concepts, including area, volume, surface area, circle relationships, angle relationships, triangle relationships, work with parallel lines, perpendicular lines, congruency of polygons, basic construction, and basic proofs. There will also be an introduction to functions, quadratic equations, right triangle trigonometry, probability, complex numbers, logarithms, and polar coordinates. The students will need to supply their own scientific calculator.
Grade level 11, 12. Full year course. Prerequisites: Algebra I, II, and Advanced Geometry. This course will review many advanced topics such as: logarithms, arithmetic series, geometric series, conic sections, roots of higher order, polynomial equations, function, and curve sketching. The course will introduce calculus topics such as: limits, derivatives and integrals. The students will need to supply their own scientific calculator.
Grade levels 10, 11, 12. Full year course. Prerequisites: Algebra II. This course is designed for students who have completed Algebra II. Practice in the fundamental skills of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry is provided, while advanced topics are introduced and practiced. Topics include logarithms, polar coordinates, all phases of trigonometry, matrices, determinants, arithmetic series, geometric series, conic sections, root of higher order polynomial equation, and function and curve sketching. Geometry concepts that were introduced in Algebra I and II are worked with again, and more emphasis is placed on proving theorems in both two-column and paragraph proofs. The students will need to supply their own scientific calculator.
Pre-Algebra
Grade level 9. Full year course. No prerequisites. Pre-Algebra is
designed for those students who are not ready to enter a high school algebra
course. The topics covered include a general review of all the mathematical
principles learned through the eighth grade, and an introduction to basic
algebraic concepts. Students who decide to continue with an algebra course
will be able to do so after completing Pre-Algebra.
