Power, Speed, & Quickness - (PSQ)

Grade levels 10, 11, 12. Full year course. No prerequisites. PSQ will offer students the opportunity to increase their strength, power, speed, and quickness to enhance overall fitness that will allow success in all sports offered by Conway Springs High School. During this course each student will be expected to know all safety features involved in the weight room. Examples include: proper spotting techniques and proper form in all core lifts. The evaluation process is made up of work ethic, using proper safety procedures, and strength progression on core lifts (bench, inline, squat, power cleans) that we test for on an average of every 3 to 4 weeks. Upon completion of this class we hope to have instilled a positive approach in the physical, mental, and social approach to weightlifting that may allow the student the opportunity to use weightlifting as a life long recreational activity after their athletic careers may come to an end.
