Driver Education
Summer Only. Students will receive ½ unit of credit. Grading for this
class is Pass/Fail, and it will not be included in figuring the grade point
average. No prerequisites. The purpose of Driver Education is to acquaint
the student with the IPDE program. The "I" stands for the ability
to identify a possible hazard; the "P" represents the ability to
predict the possible actions and reactions to the given hazards; the
"D" teaches the student to decide on the correct evasive action to
take for the given situation; the "E" stands for the proper
execution of the appropriate driving action. The minimum requirement for the
student is to have at least 30 hours of classroom work, meet all behind the
wheel competencies, and a minimum of two hours of observation
time. A student must
satisfactorily pass both the driving and classroom sections in order to
receive credit.
