Accounting I

Grade level 10, 11, 12. Full year course. Prerequisites: Computer Technology. Accounting I introduces students to accounting concepts, principles, and the accounting cycle for a service business organized as a sole proprietorship and a merchandising business organized as a partnership. This course includes sales, purchases, cash receipts, cash payments, financial statements, cash control systems and payroll. In addition, this course introduces students to accounting software.

Computerized Accounting II

Grade level 11, 12. Full year course. Prerequisites: Computer Technology and Accounting I. Computerized Accounting II introduces students to accounting concepts, principles, and the accounting cycle for a corporation. This course includes depreciation, bad debts, notes, accrued expenses and revenue, and stock dividends. Accounting software and spreadsheet software are utilized throughout the course. An accounting simulation is done with QuickBooks software.

Computer Creations

Grade level 10, 11, 12. Full year course. Prerequisite: Computer Technology. In Computer Creations the students will use InDesign to create flyers, newsletters, and other publications and FrontPage 2000 to design web pages and keep the school web site up to date.

Computer Technology

Grade level 9. Full year course. Required for graduation. Prerequisite: 8^th grade keyboarding. This class is designed to introduce students to operating systems, word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software; ethics; networking; and the Internet.

In House Training

Grade level 11, 12. Full year course. Prerequisite: Computer Technology, Computer Creations, Accounting I and instructor consent. In House Training is designed to prepare students for the world of work. It is a project-based class in which they will do real-world tasks for local business, teachers, and administrators. These may include newsletters, flyers, programs, and creating and maintaining web sites.

Introduction to Business

Grade level 9, 10, 11, 12. Full year course. Prerequisite: concurrent enrollment in Computer Technology. Introduction to Business introduces students to the role business plays in the lives of individuals as consumers and workers. It provides students the skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary to make informed decisions about daily living skills.

Video Production

Grade levels 10-12. Full year course. Prerequisite: Computer Technology with at least a C and instructor approval. An introduction to understanding and practical experience of Video Production Techniques for New Media Application. Areas covered: story telling and interactive flow charting, coverage planning and blocking, camera operation and practical shooting, post-production preparation and editing, digitization and digital sound theory, basic sound editing techniques for video, CD/DVD and the web.
